Financial Education – I Learned Something

You guys keeping up with my blogs here will remember that I mentioned checking out financial education with Phillip Crocker last Thursday. Well, Christine and I attended the class, and I think we both learned a lot!

I will admit that I was initially attending just because I felt like I was obligated, but Phillip pointed out to everyone else in the class that I was there by my own choice. When that hit me, I realized hey, I am here to learn! And I did!

The class was on how to make a budget and keep with it to meet your financial goals. One great thing that I took away from it is that to solve ANY financial situation you have two options. Reduce Cost or Increase Income. It gets deeper and detailed of course, but if you think about it, you have X amount of money coming in each month and X amount of financial responsibilities. To meet those (and do whatever else you want) you will either need to spend less somewhere else or make more to cover the cost!

Here is a little secret, you can get this helpful information from Phillip anytime! He is the full-time financial counselor at R1CU and he will sit down with ANY member/owner to discuss finance when you have time. Phillip is among the best in the business for what he does, and it’s FREE to you as a MLMM member! Cool huh?

Have Fun Bowling - Showplace Lanes

Here is a cool heads up. Showplace Lanes in Garland has .99 Bowling M -TR every night from 8pm-1am. You pay for shoes and then just .99 a game! CHEAP!

This is a really cheap way to get out of the house, pass some time and have some fun with friends. I was really amazed to hear that they were basically giving away the games! The lanes are really clean and nice too and they glow in the dark at night when you play.

Save Money

So, we are all looking for ways to save money in these tough times, right? In addition to some of the ways I have already outlined in previous blog posts, one great way to save cash is to team up with friends on purchases.

What do I mean by this? Well, off the top of my head you can get one Monster Drink for $2.75, or 2 for $4 at any local 7-11 store. Monster is my favorite drink for those of you studying Jared-ology.

Anyway, if you look around you will see all kinds of deals for doubling up your purchase. Let’s say you are at lunch at a Mexican food place. Most restaurants will offer a discount for getting a double order of Fajitas versus ordering separately. Same thing with shirts, socks and many other items. If you’re really determined, you will find that you can be clever and save money in many ways!

Financial Education

Hey guys, you don’t wanna miss a free Financial Education class with Phillip Crocker in Mesquite on June 25th. The class is one hour and starts at 6pm. There will be free snacks and drinks!
